MIDLANDS VOICE ACADEMY LTD

  • What ages are private singing lessons for?
Honestly, any age at all, it is never too late to start! We teach students from age 5 upwards. Our eldest enrolled student is a proud 79 years young, and we love to encourage people of all ages and abilities to sing. There is no better hobby than the joy of music, and taking the time for yourself to explore your voice, creativity and song. Children aged 5-9 years follow our specifically tailored program of musical study, promoting a love for singing and the arts in a fun, relaxed and nurturing manner. Check out our 5-9 YEAR SINGING LESSONS for more information. We specialise in preparing teens for drama and dance college auditions, and have hundreds of success stories. We strongly advise booking your lessons as early as possible to be as fully prepared as you can be. The reality of this industry is that it takes hard work, preparation and practise due to the fiercely competitive nature of the arts. We can really help you get the places you deserve!
  • What happens in my first lesson?
Firstly, there is no need to be nervous. We have worked with every type of student and singer you can imagine. Whether you are destined for the West End stage, or have a nervous child looking to build their confidence, our team of highly experienced teachers will instantly put you or your child at ease. Our ethos promotes learning through care; nurtuting strengths and talents and building confidence. We are super friendly and every student leaves each lesson with a big smile and spring in their step. A typical lesson would include an informal chat about your goals and experience, followed by a vocal warm up at the piano. We ask you to have two songs in mind for the first lesson - they can be any songs at all, and you don't need to know the words from memory. We will provide your music, sheet music or lyrics on an ipad for you. Just bring along a bottle of water and a smile!

Look at our STUDENT SUCCESS page to see the enormous amount of places we have helped students to gain. We got you! GET IN TOUCH!
  • I am nervous, I've never sang before!"
OK, so TRUST US when we say, singing is the most joyous hobby you could have. We work with every type of person you can possibly imagine, and have seen hundreds of students walk through our doors. All of our teachers are above and beyond friendly and supportive, and we will put you at ease right away. Just come along and let's get singing!
  • I am a parent, can I sit in on my childs lessons?"
We welcome you to sit in on your child's first lesson to see how we work, that your child is safe and happy, and that they enjoy the session. We do kindly ask after this that parents wait in our waiting room on the ground floor (or a lot of parents use the time to nip into Aldi next door). Over our years of teaching, we find that students do work a lot better on their own, are more vocal and open with teachers, and loose their inhibitions, and progress is much faster. We keep all emergency contact details close to hand and would contact you immediately if there was any need to. We do of course, love to catch up with parents before and after lessons, through our My Music Staff portal and at shows, concerts and events. For your peace of mind, our staff are fully DBS checked and we hold full public liability insurance through Hiscox. Our full time staff (who are always on site) are qualified first aiders at work, and take annual CPD courses in Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Prevent, Awareness of LGBT, Preventing Suicide, Gang Culture, Illegal Substance Abuse, as well as a new topic each year. Our continuing professional development is of the upmost importance to us.
