🎄 CHRISTMAS GIFT VOUCHERS 🎄_•_•_Give the gift of music this Christmas with our 1-2-1 sin

We are encouraged to take part in shows that ASA specifically organise for the students to showcase their talent which is just such a fantastic opportunity to allow your confidence to grow. I really do feel part of a wonderful family and thoroughly enjoy being a part of something so special.

20180520-DSC_7598.jpg

I joined ASA having no theatre or singing experience back in 2005. In my early days as a member, I was impressed by how supportive the teachers and students were, no matter where you were on your learning curve. There is such a ‘can do’ attitude within the faculty and that is disseminated down to the students and everyone wants to achieve their very best.

OUR TEAM

Our team of 1:1 Singing teachers are ready to welcome you and guide you towards success...

  • What ages are private singing lessons for?
Honestly, any age at all, it is never too late to start! We teach students from age 5 upwards. Our eldest enrolled student is a proud 79 years young, and we love to encourage people of all ages and abilities to sing. There is no better hobby than the joy of music, and taking the time for yourself to explore your voice, creativity and song. Children aged 5-9 years follow our specifically tailored program of musical study, promoting a love for singing and the arts in a fun, relaxed and nurturing manner. Check out our 5-9 YEAR SINGING LESSONS for more information. We specialise in preparing teens for drama and dance college auditions, and have hundreds of success stories. We strongly advise booking your lessons as early as possible to be as fully prepared as you can be. The reality of this industry is that it takes hard work, preparation and practise due to the fiercely competitive nature of the arts. We can really help you get the places you deserve!
  • What happens in my first lesson?
Firstly, there is no need to be nervous. We have worked with every type of student and singer you can imagine. Whether you are destined for the West End stage, or have a nervous child looking to build their confidence, our team of highly experienced teachers will instantly put you or your child at ease. Our ethos promotes learning through care; nurtuting strengths and talents and building confidence. We are super friendly and every student leaves each lesson with a big smile and spring in their step. A typical lesson would include an informal chat about your goals and experience, followed by a vocal warm up at the piano. We ask you to have two songs in mind for the first lesson - they can be any songs at all, and you don't need to know the words from memory. We will provide your music, sheet music or lyrics on an ipad for you. Just bring along a bottle of water and a smile!
  • How much do lessons cost?
Our teachers are trained to the highest levels, following the methods, practices and ethos of Alana Shirley and her training. Between them, they hold an array of qualifications within their field, including Masters Degrees, BA (Hons) Degrees, Diplomas from the London College of Music, Estill for Singing Teachers certifications, Estill Level 1, 2 and Advanced certifications, and have all trained full time at top stage schools or universities. Teachers are also fully trained and qualified in vocal health first aid and laryngeal anatomy for your safety. Lessons are priced as follows: Teacher 14+ All teachers - 30 mins (£26), 45 mins (£39), 1 hour (£52) 9-14 years with Louise, Eleanor, Grace, Imogen or Liv - 30 mins (£23), 45 mins (£34.50), 1 hour (£46) 5-9 years with Grace, Abi or Imogen - 30 mins (£16.50) 5-9 years with Louise, Liv or Eleanor - 30 mins (£23)
  • Can you help me prepare for an audition?
YES! This is one of the most common aspects of our teaching practice, and the one we have serious success with. If you are auditioning for drama schools, get yourslef booked in and give yourself the very best chance at success. Look at our STUDENT SUCCESS page to see the enormous amount of places we have helped students to gain. If you are a dancer with little singing experience, we can help you, and give you the tools, repertoire and confidence you need to perform on the day. But honestly, the more time we have the. better! We got you! GET IN TOUCH!
  • I am nervous, I've never sang before!"
OK, so TRUST US when we say, singing is the most joyous hobby you could have. We work with every type of person you can possibly imagine, and have seen hundreds of students walk through our doors. All of our teachers are above and beyond friendly and supportive, and we will put you at ease right away. Just come along and let's get singing!
  • I am a parent, can I sit in on my childs lessons?"
We welcome you to sit in on your child's first lesson to see how we work, that your child is safe and happy, and that they enjoy the session. We do kindly ask after this that parents wait in our waiting room on the ground floor (or a lot of parents use the time to nip into Aldi next door). Over our years of teaching, we find that students do work a lot better on their own, are more vocal and open with teachers, and loose their inhibitions, and progress is much faster. We keep all emergency contact details close to hand and would contact you immediately if there was any need to. We do of course, love to catch up with parents before and after lessons, through our My Music Staff portal and at shows, concerts and events. For your peace of mind, our staff are fully DBS checked and we hold full public liability insurance through Hiscox. Our full time staff (who are always on site) are qualified first aiders at work, and take annual CPD courses in Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Prevent, Awareness of LGBT, Preventing Suicide, Gang Culture, Illegal Substance Abuse, as well as a new topic each year. Our continuing professional development is of the upmost importance to us.
  • What safety policies and procedures do you have in place?
ASA Theatre Arts Ltd is a fully inclusive school. We are fully insured with Public Liability and Public Indemnity to cover all students and staff on our premesis. All of our staff hold in date DBS certificates. We have several first aiders within the team, and a first aider is always on site, with first aid kits located around the building. We have a comprehensive set of Policies in place including the Child and Vulverable Adults Protection Policy and Equality & Diversity Policy. All policies can be found on our website HERE. Numerous CPD courses are taken annually to ensure the professional development of all of our staff.
  • Can I try just one lesson before committing to more or a regular slot?
Of course! Just drop us a message via our CONTACT form and we can find a suitable time for a first lesson. Should you wish to carry on from there, we will be more than happy to find you a regular time.
  • Where are you located?
Our studios are located within the Centre of Performing Arts Hinckley (COPAH Studios). The address is 6 Holliers Walk, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 1QW. We are in between Aldi's carpark and Carpet World on the corner. On arrival, please press the ASA Theatre Arts buzzer at the front door, and a member of the team will come to let you in.
  • How do I pay for lessons?
Upon enrolment, singing lessons are invoiced monthly and paid via bank transfer or Paypal. You pay per lesson, and lessons can be taken on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Each month you will receive an invoice approximately 7 days before the 1st, with invoice payments due on the 1st of each month. Please ensure you read our terms and conditions in full upon completing the enrolment form, to agree to the ASA Theatre Arts terms of service, including cancellation policy.
  • Can I have my lessons online?
YES! Online lessons are available to students over the age of 8. Anyone under the age of 16 will require a parent or guardian to be listening in to the call for safety purposes. We use Zoom as our platform. We are now very experienced with online lesson delivery, and find it to be just as productive as an in-person session.
